Andreas Georgson has joined Southampton Men’s First Team’s backroom staff as Set Piece Coach.

Georgson joins from Swedish outfit Malmö FF, where he was most recently Technical Director having spent 14 years at the club across two spells.

The 41-year-old first left the Swedish outfit in 2019 to join Brentford as Head of Set Pieces and Individual Development, helping the Bees reach the Championship play-off final.

After a year in West London, Georgson moved across the city and joined Mikel Arteta’s backroom staff at Arsenal as Head of Set Pieces.

Now arriving on the south coast, Georgson boasts a UEFA Pro License and UEFA Certificate in Football Management, having played for FC Rosengård and captained GIF Nike during his professional playing career.

Director of Football Jason Wilcox said: “Andreas has an excellent understanding of the game model we’re building here, in which set-pieces play an important role.

“He is an expert in what he does and truly eats, sleeps and breathes set-pieces, adding another string to our bow within the backroom staff supporting Russell and the team.”
