10 Peaks, One Purpose: Benali on Tour 2026 raises £54,000
In the fourth annual Benali on Tour, 54 walkers, led by Saints Legend and Saints Foundation Ambassador, Franny Benali, took on the challenge of trekking the iconic Lake District 10-peaks in support of Saints Foundation.
Taking place on Friday 1st May, the challenge saw participants conquer a gruelling 14.5-mile circular route beginning and ending at Old Dungeon Ghyll in Langdale. The trek included three of England’s highest mountains; Scafell Pike, Ill Crag and Broad Crag, with the team reaching elevations of just under 6000ft, almost five times the height of the Empire State building; all within an ambitious 10-hour target.
Following the challenge, the group round off an emotional and inspiring weekend, by travelling to Deepdale to support Southampton FC in our win against Preston North End FC which secured us as 4th in the EFL Championship table.
Regarded as the toughest Benali on Tour challenge to date, the event was delivered in partnership with Maximum Adventure, whose guides helped our walkers complete the route in an unforgettable test of endurance, teamwork and resilience.
The event once again received invaluable backing from Paul Castle Associates, who returned as our Official Event Partner, alongside Wheelers Travel as Travel Partner. Their continued support played a key role in ensuring the success of the challenge.
The difficulty of this year’s challenge has not gone amiss, with our walkers raising £54,000, surpassing 50% of total of the previous three years combined, and making this our most successful Benali on Tour to date. Through the valuable work of our projects, this momentous sum can go on to generate an estimated £348,840 in social value for the city, supporting vulnerable individuals, young people, and those in need across Southampton.
The success of Benali on Tour 2026 highlights the ongoing power of community, teamwork and collective action, proving once again that when people come together with purpose, we can overcome any challenge.
