Saints vs Grimsby Town

Emirates FA Cup – fifth round

St Mary’s Stadium

Referee: Thomas Bramall

Fourth official: Gavin Ward

The fifth-round tie at St Mary’s Stadium will be broadcast live on ITV4.

Saints have had an impressive record in recent years as far as the FA Cup is concerned; making it to at least the quarter-final stage in three of the last five seasons.

Victory on Wednesday night would not only continue that feat, but also set Rubén Sellés’s side up for an important Premier League meeting with Leicester City on Saturday.

A win at Northampton Town was followed by a draw with Harrogate Town and then an impressive point at home to runaway league leaders Leyton Orient on Saturday.

Wednesday night’s game matches the furthest The Mariners have ever got in the competition, last reaching the fifth round during the 1995/19 season where they were defeated 4-1 in a replay at Chelsea.

Manager Rubén Sellés confirmed it’s mainly ‘as you were’ as far as team news is concerned, with Mohammed Salisu and Ché Adams remaining side-lined ahead of Tuesday.

The duo accompany long term absentee Tino Livramento on the injury list, who the manager confirmed is progressing well.

Mislav Oršić, who missed Saturday’s trip to Leeds with concussion, has followed the appropriate protocols and is in contention to feature.

Mariners manager Paul Hurst confirmed attacking midfielder Otis Khan will travel with the squad, but it may be too soon for him to be involved.

Elsewhere central midfielder Kieran Green will miss the tie.

“Every match is important for us and the cup is no less than the league.

“I talk always, it’s a process and we are working with the process and every competition and match is important for us and the cup is no less than the league.”

To follow.

The French full-back starred last time Saints welcome lower-league opposition to St Mary’s, netting two during the fourth-round victory over Blackpool.

With three of his five Saints goals coming in the FA Cup, the hosts may look to their alternative goal scorer again on Wednesday.

Bucking the trend of threat from the left side of the field, youngster Driscoll-Glennon is certainly one Saints should look out for on Wednesday.

With three goal involvements (two assists and one goal) in the last three league games (four in the FA Cup alone this season), the summer arrival from Burnley’s U21s side has been in fine form of late.
