Saints will be wearing their white and red home shirt with black shorts.

While both sides saw a disappointing start to their 2022/23 campaign, they have both incurred success in recent games.

Southampton will be looking to make it three wins in the space of a week when Manchester United visit St Mary’s for an early kick-off on Saturday.

After coming from behind to claim an impressive 2-1 victory over Leicester City last time out in the league, Hasenhüttl’s side went on to secure their place in the third round of the Carabao Cup in midweek.

Manchester United picked up their first three points in the league with a shock victory over Liverpool on Monday, after previously faltering against both Brentford and Brighton and Hove Albion.

Jadon Sancho and Marcus Rashford were both on the scoresheet for United, with Erik ten Hag’s side able to fight a late comeback from their rivals to ensure a 2-1 victory.

With neither side able to emerge victorious over one another in the 2021/22 season, it’ll be a huge contest in SO14.

Saints are boosted by the return of Romain Perraud to training, while Tino Livramento remains the only long-term absentee.

United will be without Victor Lindelof, Facundo Pellistri, Anthony Martial and Brandon Williams at St Mary’s, though Saturday could see new signing Casemiro makes his debut for United.

“I think it'll be an intense game. Always when you play top teams you need to run, sprint more than the opponent as they have really good individuals. They are strong with the ball. We can't let them get too confident.”

"It's a different challenge, so I'm curious whether we learned our lesson against Brentford."

There is no doubt Ché Adams is Southampton’s man of the moment, having come off the bench against Leicester City to score a brace and help claim a pivotal three points for Hasenhüttl’s side.

Playing a vital role in United’s impressive victory over Liverpool, the 22-year-old has been excellent in possession for the Manchester outfit of late, with the winger hoping to build on his debut goal of the season on Monday.

- In their 2-1 win at Leicester, Che Adams became the first Southampton substitute to score twice in a Premier League match since Sadio Mané in March 2016 vs Liverpool. Adams last scored in consecutive league games in February, with the second of those games coming against Manchester United.

- James Ward-Prowse has been involved in 15 goals in his last 25 Premier League appearances for Southampton (9 goals, 6 assists), assisting Che Adams’ winner against Leicester City. On home soil, however, the Saints captain has scored just once in his last 21 league appearances and in none of his 11 games at St Mary’s in 2022.
