Southampton FC Women are delighted to announce the signing of wide-forward Lexi Lloyd-Smith, previously with Charlton Athletic.

Marieanne Spacey-Cale’s newest addition played four seasons with Arsenal at youth level, before making the switch to Chelsea where she spent two seasons in the FA WSL Academy setup.

The pacey winger joined fellow Barclays Women’s Championship side Charlton Athletic in January 2021 before heading stateside to continue her football career.

Lloyd-Smith spent time at the University of South Alabama, scoring three goals in 13 appearances for the Jaguars, including a goal and assist during her debut game in the highest level of collegiate football - the NCAA Division-I.

Alongside her club and university career, Lloyd-Smith has also represented the Lionesses, featuring in the youth sides from under-15s to the under-17s most recently.

On joining Southampton FC Women, Lloyd-Smith commented:

“I’m really excited to get started. I think this is a really great club to continue my journey in the industry.

"The facilities already show you something - the setup in terms of getting the girls involved and being at the facilities where the men are - I think it's just a great shout to come here. "The team have just been promoted to the Championship so it's a great team to show everyone what we've got.

“The girls have welcomed me really well and I can’t wait to get started.”
