Southampton Football Club is supporting Southampton City Council’s annual Christmas toy appeal after donating £10,000 worth of toys for the second year running.
The toys, many of which have been bought locally, were delivered to Southampton City Council this week and will be given to young people who are supported by the Council’s children’s service, ensuring that all children and young people have a special gift to open on Christmas morning.
Supporters can still make a donation to the Council’s toy appeal – simply visit the customer service desk at Westquay where you can donate new toys, suitable for children up to the age of 18, up until Monday 20th December.
The club would also like to thank the team at HIS Church Charity, who supported the appeal with a donation of additional toys, courtesy of Mattel.
Southampton Football Club’s Head of Saints Foundation and Community Partnerships, Greg Baker, said: “We’re proud to be helping Southampton City Council bring smiles to local children over the festive period by donating to the toy appeal.”

Councillor Peter Baillie, Cabinet Member for Children’s Social Care at Southampton City Council said: “We’re incredibly grateful for Southampton Football Club’s support of our annual toy appeal. They really go above and beyond, purchasing £10,000 worth of presents, including from local and independent toy shops, fulfilling wish lists from some of the children the council supports.
“We’ve been overwhelmed by the generosity of local organisations and the community year upon year and this year is no different! Our volunteers are already working hard to sort and wrap thousands of donated gifts ready to distribute to children in time for Christmas morning. We’re still welcoming donations so please do pledge your support and help us brighten up Christmas for so many children in our city.”
This is Southampton Football Club’s second annual donation having also donated £10,000 worth of toys in 2020 as part of its award-winning outreach and engagement initiative Saints As One, with the club continuing its commitment to support the local community.
Saints As One is part of the club’s sustainability strategy, The Halo Effect, and is a joint initiative between the club and Saints Foundation to make a positive impact on people’s lives across the city and beyond as part of its Social Responsibility.
