Scotland impressively revived their World Cup 2022 qualification hopes in the week, much to the jovial dissatisfaction of manager Ralph Hasenhüttl, whose native country is Austria.

Lyndon Dykes's penalty, won by Southampton's Chè Adams, proved to be the difference in Vienna as Scotland claimed a 1-0 victory over group rivals Austria, with Hasenhüttl joking that words will be exchanged with his striker upon return from international duty.

Steve Clarke's side are now a point clear of Israel, who visit Hampden Park next, and four above Austria with four games remaining.

When asked about Adams's contribution to the victory, the manager replied with a smirk: "A big win against the Austrians, yeah, I will have to have a serious conversation with him, I think.

"A very good game. I'm very happy for him. He showed his qualities and yeah, it was a big win for Scotland definitely."

Adams is expected back at Staplewood today, the manager subsequently confirmed.
