The overriding emotions filling Southampton FC Women's manager Marieanne Spacey-Cale's head on Wednesday were one of pride, delight, but also relief as her side's promotion to National League Southern Premier ahead of the 2021/21 season was confirmed.
After an all-but perfect two years in terms of results in National League South West - gaining 43 points from a possible 45 - the club fill finally be taking that deserved step up next season.
The promotion is as a result of a successful application to the Football Association, an application which eventually sealed a second promotion in three seasons.
For the manager who is yet to lose her the side in the league, the decision is thoroughly deserved.
"It's a great feeling," said the Spacey-Cale. "To know that the hard work and results that we've had over the last two seasons has come to fruition with the application being successful.

It's the next exciting step in our journey.
“We got information to say they were looking to allow applications for promotion and the whole club came together to create something which was fantastic. 75% of it is weighted towards on-pitch results and with that alone we were in a really strong position having not lost in two seasons.
“The more the women’s programme grows the support is there with us across the board, everybody we talk to is interested. That gives you that glow and that feeling of ‘we really belong here’.
"The promotion gives us a chance to challenge ourselves, but also payback some of the support we’ve had throughout the club."
