Southampton's youngsters suffered defeat on the road to Norwich City on Saturday.

The first goal of the game came after just four minutes, Oscar Thorn's square ball set for Alex Matos deflected into his own net by Saints' WIll Tizzard.

It didn't take long for the Canaries to double their lead either; just four minutes later Ken Aboh held off his markers with a direct run into the box, before finishing past Matt Hall to ensure of a dominant start to proceedings for the hosts.

Saints looked to respond as the half grew on, Fedel Ross-Lang trying a speculative effort from range which fell just wide.

But the half finished just as it started, Thorn involved once again in stoppage time by this time getting a goal of his own which gave Norwich a comfortable three-goal advantage going into the break.

It was a similarly quick start to the second 45 for Saturday's hosts, as Aboh turned provider for Matos in the 49th minute.

The game then died down for the first time during a hectic afternoon; the next chance not appearing until gone the hour mark as Lewis Payne's seemingly goal-bound shot deflected behind for a corner.

But it was from this very corner that Norwich's fifth and final goal arose as Joe Duffy was fouled following a rapid counter-attack.

Up stepped Duffy to take the penalty he earned, sending Hall the wrong way to cement an impressive afternoon for the Canaries.
