Ralph Hasenhüttl has explained he is dealing with some injury concerns ahead of the Boxing Day trip to Fulham, but is waiting for more news on his players’ fitness ahead of the game.

The Saints boss revealed in his pre-match press conference that Jannik Vestergaard and Nathan Redmond are suffering with issues, in addition to the hamstring problem sustained by Danny Ings in last week’s game against Manchester City, while Oriol Romeu is set to serve a one-game suspension after picking up his fifth yellow card of the season.

With a couple of days before the visit to Craven Cottage, Hasenhüttl is still unsure on what the outlook is for each player.

“It’s a little bit early in the week, but we have some issues, definitely,” he said.

“After the very intense last week with three games in six days, you can see that some guys are struggling a little bit.

“It’s early in the week, but I can only tell you who didn’t train so far; that is Ingsy, Jannik Vestergaard, Redmond. Ori is suspended, so we have a few issues.

“Stuey (Armstrong) had a problem with his hand, with somebody stepping on it. I think it’s not a problem, but we have a few issues, so we must have a look in the next two or three days.”
