Danny Ings limped out of Southampton’s Premier League clash with Manchester City with a hamstring problem, it has been confirmed.
Saints’ top scorer was withdrawn in the 41st minute of the 1-0 defeat at St Mary’s, and speaking after the match manager Ralph Hasenhüttl issued an update on the striker’s fitness.
“It’s a hamstring problem,” he said. “I’m not sure how much, but it’s clear we were taking a risk with another game for 90 minutes when he has played twice in the week after the long injury, so we hope it’s not too bad.”
