With the country back in lockdown, Southampton Football Club and Saints Foundation are launching a new wave of activity to help support our local community.
Since the start of the Covid-19 pandemic, Saints Foundation has provided a lifeline to vulnerable people. Through the Saints As One initiative, the club is working with them to help increase and evolve how we collectively deliver services, helping our fans and people across the city stay connected over the coming weeks and months.
The club recognises that lockdown increases the challenges for many in society and are working to provide support for those that are most impacted, with a particular focus on tackling loneliness, helping to alleviate the effects of food poverty, and promoting mental wellbeing.
Staff from across the club and the Foundation will be offered the opportunity to sign up to volunteering schemes in the local area, including those run by City Mission, to deliver free meals to those that need them, and Southampton Voluntary Services, who provide a wide range of support across the city.

We’ll also be helping the isolated and vulnerable members of our community stay connected with regular phone calls from both Saints Foundation and the club, including first team players who will be reaching out to fans personally.
With people looking for ways to keep fit during lockdown, the Saints As One hub will continue to host invaluable online resources to help stay active and healthy during lockdown – you can access our library of Online Exercise videos that can be done in your own time, or sign up to our Virtual Group Exercise classes hosted regularly throughout the week.
Plus, you can keep fit with Southampton FC Women’s team and get an insight into their lockdown training regimes in a series of videos that will be shared with fans across the next few weeks.

This is all in addition to the incredible work Saints Foundation have done throughout the Covid-19 pandemic, supporting people in need at all stages of life - using the power and passion of the club to transform lives in and around Southampton, helping people fulfil their potential to be more involved, healthier and empowered members of the community.
The Foundation’s ability to deliver their services as normal has been greatly affected by the pandemic, which risked leaving many of their older adult participants alone in their homes without their usual routine and structure. Saints Foundation’s work has not stopped, even if their usual routine has.

Saints As One has already created positive impact since its launch in response to the Covid-19 pandemic, winning the Leaders in Sport Community Award for using the power of sport to bring our local community together – learn more about some of the activity that has already taken place here.
