Saints hit the top following Newcastle win

History was made on Friday night, as Southampton finished a day top of the Premier League table for the first time, following a third straight win.

Goals from Ché Adams and Stuart Armstrong secured a 2-0 victory over Newcastle, moving Ralph Hasenhüttl’s side to six unbeaten, and temporarily top of the pile.

Saints will now head into the international break as the form team in the division, having collected 16 points from their last six games – two more than any other team.

Duo shortlisted for monthly awards

Southampton’s Ralph Hasenhüttl and Ché Adams are nominated for Premier League Manager of the Month and Player of the Month respectively.

Unbeaten in October, collecting two wins and a draw, Hasenhüttl has steered Saints into the top six whilst Adams notched two goals and an assist in the same time.

Voting closes for Manager of the Month at midday today and 6pm for the Player of the Month accolade.

Stars head off on international duty

The Premier League now pauses for two weeks, with seven Southampton first team players heading off to represent their respective countries.

Jan Bednarek (Poland), Jannik Vestergaard (Denmark), James Ward-Prowse (England), Stuart Armstrong (Scotland), Moussa Djenepo (Mali), Ibrahima Diallo (France U21) and Michael Obafemi (Republic of Ireland U21) have all been called-up.

Youngsters Will Ferry and Tom O’Connor will also head off to join the Republic of Ireland Under-21 squad.

N’Lundulu hat-trick inspires B team

Dan N’Lundulu’s impressive hat-trick helped Southampton’s B team on their way to a dominant 5-2 win over Manchester City in Premier League 2.

Further strikes from Jake Vokins and Will Ferry completed the scoring, with City only able to add two consolation strikes.

Victory lifts Dave Horseman’s side to 10th in the table.

Women's fixtures suspended until December

Following government guidelines, all Southampton FC Women's league and Hampshire Cup fixtures will be suspended until at least December 2nd.
Due to the national COVID-19 restrictions, no women’s teams taking part below the second-tier Championship level will be able to train or play, with men’s teams in leagues below National Leagues North or South also suspended.

Details of rearranged fixtures will be announced in due course.
