Southampton’s youngsters will be looking to bounce back in Under-18 Premier League this weekend, with the visit to Aston Villa on Saturday.
THE MATCH
Aston Villa vs Saints
U18 Premier League
Bodymoor Heath Training Ground
Saturday 7th November, 1pm GMT
Following their impressive thrashing of Leicester City two weeks ago, Saints faced a tough challenge seven days later with the visit of league leaders Fulham to Staplewood Campus.
Despite showing a good account of themselves for the majority, the Cottagers came away with the points thanks to two second half goals from Luke Harris and Mika Biereth.
The challenges don’t stop there for Paul Hardyman’s side, who now travel to second place Aston Villa; a team with the same record as leaders Fulham this season as they occupy second place.
Villa’s last outing was also against the Cottagers, losing 3-0 at the Bodymoor Heath Training Ground in their first defeat of the season after an unbeaten start.
LAST MEETING
It was certainly a fixture not lacking in entertainment the last time Saints and Villa came together back in January of this year.
Aston Villa took an early lead at the Bodymoor Heath Training Ground through two quickfire goals courtesy of Aaron Ramsey and a Seamas Keogh own goal just shy of the 15-minute-mark.
But Saints responded and eventually came back to earn a well-earned point away from home; Sam Bellis with the first on 21 minutes before Callum Watts score late in the day for the second.
The result meant Saints salvage some form of pride against Villa during the 2019/20 U18 Premier League season, following a 3-2 defeat at Staplewood Campus back on the opening weekend.
