Southampton Football Club has published its latest Equality and Diversity report, reviewing another progressive year developing education and awareness in this area club-wide.
The last 12 months have have included Saints being awarded the Premier League’s Advanced Equality Standard and, in doing so, becoming the first top-flight club to receive this status at the first attempt.
Elsewhere, the club celebrated its first virtual Equality Week in May, hosting a variety of different activities to raise awareness and educate, and joining forces with several local charities and organisations.
Saints also welcomed the Good Lad Initiative to Staplewood Campus to deliver educational sessions to its Academy players, held an inclusive leadership panel with Barclays, celebrated International Women’s Day and hosted its first competitive Women’s First-Team match at St Mary’s.
Managing Director, Toby Steele, said “It’s been a busy 12 months for us here at Saints from an Equality and Diversity perspective, with so much great work getting us to where we are today.
“Although we’re delighted to have achieved so much in a relatively short period, we understand the effort and hard work cannot stop, and we’ll continue to seek the views and help of our staff, fans and outside organisations to make further improvements in the equality and diversity field.”
