Shane Long played 74 minutes of the Republic of Ireland's goalless draw with unbeaten Wales in Sunday afternoon's Nations League action.

Long went closest to breaking the deadlock in the 55th minute, heading over from close range, before James McClean was sent off after two yellow cards in quick succession.

Republic remain in the hunt for their first victory, but were forced to deal with the withdrawal of five players on the morning of the game following a positive Covid-19 test. Stephen Kenny's depleted side travel to Finland on Wednesday.

Elsewhere, James Ward-Prowse and Danny Ings watched on as England registered a 2-1 victory over the world's top-ranked team Belgium, whilst claiming an important three points at Wembley.

The Three Lions have now won 20 of their past 21 competitive home games (L1), scoring 67 goals and conceding only 10.
