Southampton’s defensive duo of Jan Bednarek and Jannik Vestergaard both helped their respective countries to victory on Wednesday night.

Bednarek, who has played every minute of Saints’ season so far, completed another 90 minutes for Poland as they comfortably beat Finland 5-1 in Gdańsk.

West Brom’s Kamil Grosicki netted a 19-minute hat-trick for Jerzy Brzęczek’s side.

Following the friendly victory, Poland will now prepare for UEFA Nations League clashes with Italy and Bosnia & Herzegovina.

Elsewhere, it was a similarly successful night for Vestergaard and Denmark, with the central defender completing 90 minutes as the Red and White recorded a 4-0 win over Faroe Islands in a friendly.

Buoyed by that result, Kasper Hjulmand’s side will now prepare for UEFA Nations League meetings with Iceland and England.
