Bednarek's Poland edged out by Netherlands

Poland began their League A Group One UEFA Nations League campaign with a narrow defeat in the Netherlands.

Southampton’s Jan Bednarek played the entirety of the clash, but was unable to prevent Tottenham’s Steven Bergwijn from scoring what proved to be the winner just past the hour-mark.

Poland will now look to kick-start their group stage at Bosnia and Herzegovina on Monday.

Elsewhere, Stuart Armstrong featured in the final 12 minutes of Scotland’s UEFA Nations League B Group Two fixture against Israel which finished 1-1 at Hampden Park.

The hosts led thanks to Ryan Christie’s penalty, but Eran Zahavi’s equaliser forced a share of the spoils.
