Saints Under 23’s striker Dan N’Lundulu said their match-up with Coventry City at St Mary’s on Tuesday was a good test, as they kick on in their pre-season preparations.

Despite taking the lead through a well worked Jake Vokins goal during the first half, Saints eventually fell to a 3-1 defeat against the newly promoted Championship side.

However N’Lundulu feels it was a good test for the team as they take another step closer to the start of the new season.

“I thought it was a good test,” said the 21-year-old. “I think it’s important for us to continue building on our fitness and kick on the first game of the season.”

We're getting the right information from the coaches, we've got to keep listening and hopefully put it into a game.

“I’m still trying to understand the instructions from the first team manager. I’ve got to show him that I can do the job.

“I’ve got to keep proving myself in every game and every training session, keep working hard. Hopefully I’ll get my chance.

“Personal targets for the season are to work hard, start off the season well. Listen to instructions, listen to the coaches and hopefully get some goals.”
