Ralph Hasenhüttl believes Southampton will be coming up against one of the Premier League’s best teams in possession when they face Brighton at St Mary’s tomorrow night.
The Seagulls rank inside the top eight for average possession and pass completion, below only the traditional top six and Champions League-chasing Leicester.
The boss is full of praise for opposite number Graham Potter, and insists the task will be no easier than recent matches against both Manchester clubs and Everton.
“I don’t have more expectations – for me every game is difficult, I don’t rate them how difficult it is against them or them,” Hasenhüttl said.
“In every game you have a chance to win, but there is also the risk you can lose. If you don’t do your job, you can lose against every team in the Premier League.
“It’s quite tough to press them because they are so calm on the ball and they will find good solutions.
“It can happen that maybe you run twice or three times more than normal to get the ball, but if you don’t do it together you have no chance, because they are very, very good on the ball. You have to be very committed.
“He (Potter) has had a big impact on this team. It was definitely a big change (in style) so congratulations to him, he has done a really fantastic job.
“I really like to watch them playing football. I know they have had some problems getting results against some teams, but in every game I saw a clear game plan, which is what I really like to watch.”
