Ralph Hasenhüttl has explained that Southampton's players are raring to go following a return to full contact training this week, ahead of a proposed fixture restart date of June 20th.
Should the season resume as planned, Saints would face Norwich City in their first official outing since March - an exciting prospect for the manager and his players alike.
He expects games to be played at the same tempo fans have come to expect from traditional Premier League encounters, and is relishing the chance to finish the 2019/20 season - his first full campaign as Southampton manager.
"It's been very important for every player to stay healthy and I'm very happy that we've had no positive [COVID-19] tests so far," the Austrian confirmed. "It shows that our players have been very strict on sticking to the rules.
"We are very happy that we'll get the chance to play again from 20th June. We are happy to play and we hope the fans at home can still enjoy when they are watching us.
"It will be very very quick games. Speedy football with high intensity in maybe higher temperatures over the summer.
"But this is what we're preparing for at the moment; the players are really enthusiastic and very happy to be back on the pitch.
"We have to be fit for these final nine games. This is the most important thing.

"We have a short but very intense 'pre-season', if you want. Then maybe it's a new 'short tournament' [of games].
"You can see it however you want, but finally the most important thing for us was to know that we will start again."
