During this difficult time, our older adult sessions have come to a halt due to the lockdown leaving our participants more isolated than we would be without the Covid-19 pandemic.

One of these is elderly couple Eileen and Anthony. The Senior Saints participants, who are in their eighties and take part in circuit training every week, tragically lost two of their children in the space of six months.

Specialised staff have supported them through this tough time, and they have used Foundation sessions for respite. During the lockdown, they have received calls weekly to check on their welfare from our staff as well as remaining active in their homes.

The sessions have helped me get out some of my frustrations over the last year. It is form of counselling for me.”

Eileen added: “The staff are always so caring, and they have been there for us when we have needed them.”

And they were given another surprise this week as they received a call from Southampton FC ambassador, Franny Benali, who checked in on the couple.
