It’s your weekly check-in on all things Southampton Football Club as the Monday Briefing returns…
Benali raises over £13,000
Franny Benali has so far raised over £13,000 for Saints Foundation and NHS Charities Together, following the completion of his gruelling Garden Marathon.
In sweltering conditions, the former Southampton defender finished the 26.2 miles in just under five hours.
The challenge aimed to raise vital funds for good causes, both locally and nationally, having smashed his fairly modest original target of £2,600 before the challenge even began.
The feat, even more impressive considering Franny's lack of training, was part of a national effort to bolster the UK charity sector during these challenging times, on the date that the London Marathon was officially scheduled for.

Saints Rewind relives south coast derby win
The latest iconic match to be captured “as live” on southamptonfc.com was the memorable 4-0 drubbing of Portsmouth this season.
Saints were convincing 4-0 victors at Fratton Park in the first south coast derby for seven years, as the two sides went head to head in the Carabao Cup third round back in September.
For those who missed the 90-minute screening of the game, extended highlights of a memorable night are available to view below.
Saints Venny suffers United defeat
Saints’ latest eSports outing ended in defeat as Saints Venny was beaten 2-0 by Manchester United on FIFA 20.
The latest live stream was broadcast on Sunday, as we continue to follow the club’s scheduled Premier League fixture list in gaming form.
The result followed back-to-back wins for Venny over Man City over Everton.
Gunn competes in ePL Invitational
Elsewhere in the gaming world, Angus Gunn was Saints’ representative in the ePL Invitational tournament.
The goalkeeper was quick to play down his chances, and was duly beaten by Philip Billing of Bournemouth in the first round.
Wolves’ Diogo Jota was the overall winner, defeating Trent Alexander-Arnold of Liverpool in the final.
Update on The Killers concert
Southampton Football Club can confirm the The Killers’ 2020 concert at St Mary’s will no longer take place.
The band were due to perform at the stadium on Wednesday 3rd June, with support from Blossoms, but the ongoing coronavirus pandemic has put an end to that tour date.
Instead, The Killers are provisionally due to visit St Mary’s on Monday 31st May 2021, with the group releasing a statement on social media this morning and confirming all tickets purchased will remain valid.
UEFA Women’s EURO moved to 2022
The UEFA Executive Committee has confirmed that the postponed UEFA Women’s EURO 2021 will be played in England from July 6th to July 31st 2022.
It is planned to use the same venues that were originally proposed to host the event, including Southampton’s St Mary’s Stadium.
Commenting on the rescheduling, UEFA President Aleksander Čeferin said: “By moving UEFA Women’s EURO to the following year, we are ensuring that our flagship women’s competition will be the only major football tournament of the summer, providing it with the spotlight it deserves.”
