Saints Foundation has joined forces with Southampton City Council and Southampton City Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) to launch a city-wide prescription delivery scheme, aimed at supporting some the most vulnerable people in Southampton.
As part of our #SaintsAsOne campaign, Saints Foundation staff will work with pharmacies across the city to co-ordinate the service, as well as deliver prescriptions to the homes of those who are self-isolating or shielded as a result of the COVID-19 outbreak.
The service has been launched as part of Southampton’s Community Response team effort to support those people who are unable to obtain essential medication by any other means, and will remain operational for as long as it is deemed necessary.
The initial plan for the scheme is to work directly with pharmacies and GPs to identify and support those most in need. Further to this, a dedicated helpline will be set up for members of the public to call for assistance (details to follow).
Dr Mark Kelsey, Clinical Chair of NHS Southampton City CCG, said: “This is an essential scheme for people who are shielding or in a vulnerable group, and I would like to thank everyone involved in setting it up so quickly.
"We are also hugely grateful to those staffing and supporting pharmacies across the city during this time.”
