Southampton's youngsters play their second Premier League Cup game in four days on Tuesday afternoon, as they visit Stoke City (2pm GMT).
Dave Horseman’s side faced AFC Bournemouth on Friday night in the same competition, heartbreakingly losing out 3-2 to two late Cherries goals.
Saints had taken the lead on two occasions through goals from Kornelius Hansen and Pascal Kpohomouh, but ultimately fell foul to a late flurry courtesy of Jordan Ibe and Sam Surridge.
The defeat means Horseman’s side will need a win against Stoke on Tuesday, and to hope the Potters also lose to Bournemouth in their final fixture.
The side experienced a couple of changes during the last game, with January signing Jacob Maddox coming off the bench for only his second appearance as a result of his injury.
Jake Vokins also made an appearance following a stint training with the first team, with Will Ferry and Dan N’Lundulu amongst the returning faces following the Hampshire Cup win over Havant & Waterlooville.
Saints will be expected to return with a side featuring a mixture of Under-18s and Under-23s personnel on Tuesday night, with a win needed to ensure progression to the next round.
