Young Southampton forward Tyreke Johnson has joined USL Championship side Hartford Athletic on loan for their upcoming league campaign, which runs from March to December.

Hartford, based in Connecticut, are managed by former Under-23s boss Radhi Jaïdi, and the 20-year-old will now link up with his old coach on the US east coast.

Johnson was handed his Southampton debut under Ralph Hasenhüttl in 2018/19, making one appearance in the Premier League and a further two in FA Cup competition.

He's since earned a one-year contract extension, keeping him at St Mary's until June 2021.

Hartford officially kick off their season against Charleston Battery on March 21st.
