Kyle Walker-Peters is determined to show Southampton manager Ralph Hasenhüttl that he has made the right decision to bring him into the club.

The 22-year-old has completed a loan switch from Tottenham Hotspur, moving to St Mary's for the remainder of the 2019/20 season, as he adds some valuable additional strength in the full-back department.

Having been given the chance, Walker-Peters intends to take full advantage.

"I'm looking to use this opportunity to improve as a football player, but most importantly win games here, and show the manager he made the right decision in bringing me here, and also show the fans that," he said.

"I'm just grateful for the opportunity I've been given by the manager and the club. I come here looking to help the club improve and improve myself. I just want to win as many games as possible and enjoy playing football.

"I had a chat with the manager and he assured me I was the type of player he liked and I got that feeling from watching Southampton that I could fit in well. Not only that, but it's a huge club, and for me I need to be in a team that will suit my style and help me develop, so those were the main reasons."

Walker-Peters has already been briefed by Hasenhüttl on what is expected of him, and that is only adding to his desire to get started with his new side.

"He went through what he likes from his full-backs," he said. "It was a lot to take in on the first day, but I think once I get on the training pitch and get to learn his philosophy I think I'll get up to speed quite quickly.

"As a full-back, you're always on the front-foot, looking to make interceptions and looking to be aggressive, getting forward when they have the ball, and I like to think that complements my style."
