Southampton captain Pierre-Emile Højbjerg praised the atmosphere at St Mary’s following the defeat to Wolves on Saturday.
Saints went 2-0 up before the break; Jan Bednarek firing home a James Ward-Prowse free-kick, before Shane Long headed home a Cédric cross to double the lead.
Højbjerg noted how the crowd at St Mary’s helped the team get off to a flying start.
“I think people felt free, people felt good. With the crowd behind them they were very, very excited. This is what we need to keep growing.
“There is a really good feeling, a good atmosphere. People and everybody are very happy to work hard to do what’s necessary. That’s a great feeling and it’s working.”
