Southampton’s first official esports player Owen Venn will be going for glory this weekend as he represents the club at his first FUT Champions Cup event of the season.
Venn, who plays under the gamer tag SaintsVenny, will compete in Stage 3 of the marquee EA Sports FIFA 20 event held in Atlanta, USA, from Friday 17th to Sunday 19th.
Up against 63 other competitors, SaintsVenny will be looking to claim a share of up to 2,000 Global Series points, with those in the top 64 for points accrued at the end of the season going forward to compete in the 2020 eFIFA World Cup in July, the most prestigious event in the FIFA 20 calendar.
Structured in a group stage format before progressing into the knockout stages, SaintsVenny will be up against last season’s inaugural ePremier League champion Donovan ‘Tekkz’ Hunt, FIFA legend Spencer ‘Gorilla’ Ealing and a host of other global stars.
