Ralph Hasehnüttl has sung the praises of his team in recent weeks, not least after the momentous 2-1 win over Leicester City on Saturday; retribution for what happened in the reverse fixture back in October.

The manager was quick to single out the strong mentality of his Southampton players, who have put together a run of six games unbeaten, dating back to mid December, and have begun 2020 with three straight wins.

"We have unbelievable mentality in the moment; a very committed team," the Austrian asserted.

"Everybody has the feeling that we're going in the right direction but we don't have the feeling that we're at the end of our development.

"We didn't sit deep against Leicester. We were going for the third goal.

"The good thing is that we are now in a way that gives us a chance of taking points every single week."
