Saints begin FA Cup campaign with victory
Southampton cruised into the FA Cup fourth round with a comfortable 2-0 win over Championship outfit Huddersfield at St Mary’s on Saturday.
Taking the opportunity to rest a host of players after the hectic festive fixture schedule, Academy prospects Will Smallbone and Jake Vokins stole the show with a goal each.
Smallbone, who was making his senior debut, opened the scoring in the 47th minute before Vokins, who was handed a first start, confirmed the victory late on.
The result moves Saints to five games unbeaten, after Ralph Hasenhüttl’s side continued their impressive Premier League form with a 1-0 win over Tottenham on New Year’s Day.
FA Cup fourth round draw
The draw for the FA Cup fourth round will be made on Monday night at 7.30pm GMT.
With the matches due to be played between Friday 24th and Monday 27th January, 16 Premier League teams remain in the competition with Southampton confirmed as ball number 11 for the draw.

Women complete weekend of cup success
Southampton FC Women progressed to the fourth round of the FA Cup for the first time thanks to a comeback victory over Cardiff City Ladies on Sunday.
Ella Pusey restored parity before Kirsty Whitton sealed a spot in the next round just after the restart.
With the draw taking place on Monday, Saints could come up against a WSL or Championship outfit, who enter the competition at the fourth round stage.

Ralph Hasenhüttl’s side will be looking to move six unbeaten in all competitions, with three wins from their last four league outings.

Ings and Obafemi shortlisted for awards
Southampton pair Danny Ings and Michael Obafemi have been shortlisted for Premier League awards for December.
Ings, who scored five goals in as many starts during the month, sits joint second in the Golden Boot race and is up for the Player of the Month accolade.
Similary, Obafemi’s strike at Chelsea on Boxing Day has been put forward for Goal of the Month.
Voting closes for both awards at 6pm GMT on Monday 6th January.

Under-18s battle back for a point
Southampton’s youngsters came from two goals down at Aston Villa to earn a point in the U18 Premier League.
Aaron Ramsey and a Seamas Keogh own goal put the hosts in the driving seat.
Sam Bellis reduced the arrears before deep into stoppage time, Callum Watts headed home to rescue an unlikely point.
Under-23s resume PL2 campaign
Southampton Under-23s are back in Premier League 2 action following the festive break as they host Everton on Monday night (7pm GMT).
Suffering a 4-2 defeat away at Derby in mid-December, Saints' youngsters will look to get back to winning ways in league action.
