Southampton Football Club is delighted to announce that promising young forward Ramello Mitchell has put pen to paper on his first professional contract.
Officially joining the club from Birmingham City in July, the highly-rated teenager celebrated his 17th birthday earlier this month, and has now completed a deal that runs until June 2022.
With Saints fending off a host of other Premier League clubs for the striker's signature, Mitchell has already begun proving his value, having made an impact at Under-18s level as well as his debut for the Under-23s.
Now, committing his immediate future to Southampton, Mitchell describes how he's delighted with his promising start life on the south coast.
“I’m over the moon,” he said. “I’m really happy to have signed my first professional contract at the club and I’m looking forward to carrying on now.
“I have to work even harder and try my best in everything that I do.
“This club brings through a lot of good players and young talent, so hopefully I can be one of the next, but for now I want to score as many goals as possible, get assists and help the team win.”
Academy Director Matt Hale said: “We have an acquisition model which looks for high potential in players, who are also a good fit for our culture here at Southampton.
“Ramello is an ideal fit and complements our youth programme, in terms of developing players through a long-term pathway at the club.
“Having already played numerous times in our Under-23s, still as a first-year scholar, it highlights the progress being made by Ramello, supported by the coaches’ efforts on the training pitch.”
