Manager Ralph Hasenhüttl is unlikely to be able to call upon Sofiane Boufal from the start of Wednesday's meeting with Norwich due to the Moroccan's ongoing toe problem.
Boufal suffered the injury in the build-up to Saturday’s Premier League encounter with Watford, making him a doubt for the clash with the Hornets.
Fit to take part from the bench, the winger played a starring role as Saints came back to secure a vital three points, only to aggravate the injury.
“I must say it’s getting worse,” the manager said on Boufal’s injury. “After the match, the reaction was not the best one, so for Wednesday it will be difficult, I think. Maybe from the bench, but not from the beginning.
“He will not train today [Tuesday] and there’s still pain. He showed in the last game how important he is for us, so we hope the injury gets better.”
With no fresh injury concerns the only confirmed absentee is Stuart Armstrong, who continues to recover from a hamstring injury picked up at Arsenal 10 days ago.
