Southampton’s out on loan striker Marcus Barnes was Eastleigh’s cup hero on Saturday as the Spitfires earned an FA Cup replay with League Two outfit Crewe.

Hosting the Railwaymen in the Second Round, they looked to be heading to defeat due to Owen Dale’s first-half goal, only for Barnes to strike in the 86th minute.

The Spitfires will now be in the hat for Monday’s FA Cup Third Round draw before heading to Cheshire on Tuesday 10th December for the replay.

Also in Monday’s draw will be Alfie Jones and Tom O’Connor, as Gillingham cruised past Doncaster to progress.

In an all-League One affair, goals from Mark Byrne and Ollie Lee put the hosts in a commanding position before Brandon Hanlan completed the scoring.

Back in league action, Celtic returned to the top of the Scottish Premiership with a thumping 4-1 win at Ross County.

Without Mohamed Elyounoussi due to injury, Fraser Forster completed the full 90 minutes between the sticks as a Ryan Christie brace, and further efforts from Tom Rogic and Michael Johnston, lifted the Bhoys above bitter rivals Rangers on goal difference.

In Europe, it was a mixed weekend for Saints players out on loan in the continent.

Wesley Hoedt put in a man of the match performance as Royal Antwerp overcame Mechelen 1-0, lifting them to fifth and within two points of second.

However, it was defeat for Guido Carrillo and Leganés. Introduced as a 78th minute substitute, the striker wasn’t able to help avoid a 1-0 loss at the hands of Sevilla.

Completing the full set of results, Mario Lemina featured in the first half of Galatasaray’s 1-1 draw with Trabzonspor, but had to be withdrawn at the break due to injury.

Closer to home, Alex Cull rounded off a largely positive set of results for Southampton's contingent out on loan, helping AFC Totton to a surprise 3-1 win over high-flying Evesham in the Southern League Division One South.
