Southampton captain Pierre-Emile Højbjerg could confirm his place at Euro 2020 on Monday night, as Denmark take on the Republic of Ireland in their final group stage qualifier.

The Danes thrashed Gibraltar 6-0 on Friday to maintain their spot at the top of Group D, needing just a point to confirm their spot in next summer’s finals.

Now heading to Dublin, they’ll face an Ireland side who can settle for nothing less than victory if they are to stand any chance of qualifying as part of the top two.

Playing just over 35 minutes on Friday night, Højbjerg will be looking for a memorable night at the Aviva Stadium (7.45pm GMT).

Elsewhere, Kevin Danso will be involved in a slightly less pressurised encounter as Austria Under-21s head to Hungary for a friendly.

After moving level on points with top of the group England with a 4-0 win over Kosovo on Friday night, the Saints defender will turn attentions away from U21 Euro 2021 qualification.

Playing the full 90 minutes last time out, Danso will head to central Europe before returning to Hampshire.
