Southampton’s Under-23s will be looking to make amends for Monday night's defeat to Blackburn Rovers when travelling to mid-table Leicester City on Friday night.
Coach Radhi Jaïdi will no doubt welcome the chance to play a second game in the space of four days, as his young side endeavour to react to Monday's Premier League 2 setback.
Challengers Leicester currently sit 10th in the division, three points ahead of Saints, and were 2-0 victors over Tottenham Hotspur last time out.
"A quick turnover is good in a certain extent. It gives us a quick reflection on the other night so we can prepare to bounce back in the next game, which will be against a really physical and direct opposition," Jaïdi commented.
"They're [Leicester] older boys who have been playing together for a long period. Players with confidence who play with a really good intensity. The physicality and directness I mentioned, they've shown in recent games and it is something we definitely need to be prepared for.
"Obviously we're looking at player development as the number one target. I think they've gained experience in the past few weeks.
"The performances have been quite promising, of course there are areas we need to work on. Considering we have injured boys too, we're able to develop the strength and depth of the squad."
