Saints claim Wolves draw

Southampton returned to Premier League action with a 1-1 draw at Wolves on Saturday.

Danny Ings’s sixth goal of the season – and fifth in four games – put Ralph Hasenhüttl’s side ahead before Raúl Jiménez equalised from the penalty spot.

In the first fixture following the international break, the point at Molineux ended a run of three consecutive league defeats.

Four festive fixture changes

Four of Saints’ fixtures over the festive period have moved, with two being selected for additional TV coverage.

The game against Norwich City, which will be staged on Wednesday 4th December at St Mary’s, has been bought forward by 15 minutes (7:30pm GMT), and will be broadcast live by Amazon.

Six days later, Saints’ home tie with West Ham United, taking place on Saturday 14th December, will be played at the later time of 5:30pm GMT, live on Sky Sports.

Before the Hammers clash, the trip to Newcastle United has been pushed back to Sunday 8th December (2pm GMT) whilst the fixture at Selhurst Park against Crystal Palace has been brought forward by 24 hours to Tuesday 21st January (7.30pm GMT).

Southampton FC Women progress in cup

Saints cruised into the next round of the FA National League Cup with a 3-1 win at Larkhall Athletic.

Marieanne Spacey-Cale’s side took an early lead through Phoebe Williams, before the Larks equalised.

However, England Youth International Williams completed her hat-trick with goals either side of the break to ensure cup progression.

The fun doesn't end there - there will also be a laser display, funfair and a circus-themed fancy dress competition with the best dressed winning a prize. Food and drink will be available throughout the evening.

Craig David visits Staplewood

Saints supporting megastar Craig David joined Ryan Bertrand, Ché Adams and Angus Gunn for a kickabout ahead of performing at St Mary’s Stadium last week, in association with Virgin Media.

The performance marked the launch of Gig1 - Virgin Media’s gigabit broadband service, which launched in Southampton, with residents being the first to benefit from the UK’s fastest broadband speeds.

To warm up for the gig, David was put through his paces by Bertrand, Adams and Gunn.

Under-23s host Blackburn

Returning after the international break, Southampton Under-23s host Blackburn in Premier League 2 action on Monday.

Radhi Jaïdi's side drew 1-1 with Stoke last time out, with striker Dan N'Lundulu on the scoresheet in the Premier League Cup meeting.

Back to league matters, Saints will look for a return to winning ways against a Rovers side who are level on points.

Under-18s fall to Leicester defeat

Saints’ youngsters fell foul of a second-half comeback from Leicester City in the Under-18 Premier League at Staplewood on Saturday.

The hosts took a two-goal lead through Jayden Smith and Jack Turner, before two goals in two minutes after the break saw the Foxes level thanks to Kaisy McAteer and Connor Barrett.

The winning goal for the visitors came in the 75th minute with McAteer adding to his earlier finish.
