WHICH KIT WILL SAINTS BE WEARING?

Hosts Tottenham will be in their traditional white shirts, so Saints will be sporting their away kit of dark grey shirts with yellow trim, yellow shorts and yellow socks.

WHAT’S AT STAKE?

Southampton are in good form, particularly away from St Mary’s, winning their last four games on the road without conceding a goal.

It’s one defeat in six for Saints overall, although the 3-1 home reverse last time out in the Premier League against Bournemouth was undeniably a setback.

Ralph Hasenhüttl’s men come into this one buoyed by a first victory over local rivals Portsmouth since 2005, and a first win at Fratton Park since 1984.

Tottenham, meanwhile, endured a humbling penalty shoot-out exit from the Carabao Cup at the hands of League Two Colchester.

It’s one win in seven for Spurs – a very poor run by their standards – but that victory was a 4-0 success over Crystal Palace in their last game on home soil.

TEAM NEWS

Southampton manager Ralph Hasenhüttl is still without Moussa Djenepo, admitting he’s unsure when the winger will be ready to play again, while goalkeeper Alex McCarthy is also a doubt with a muscular problem.

Tottenham duo Giovani Lo Celso and Ryan Sessegnon remain sidelined, with hip and hamstring injuries respectively, but everyone else is available for the hosts.

THE MANAGERS

Ralph Hasenhüttl:
"I think it's interesting that in away games we have not always played better than we have at home. Sometimes we have given more chances to the opponent, but in the end we have had better results, and that's strange.

“We go with a lot of self-confidence now to London. We know about the challenge we are facing there, but we are a good, committed team at the moment."

Mauricio Pochettino: “We all feel disappointed because we expected to win the last three games and we didn’t.

“It’s a period where we cannot feel happy, but when this type of period arrives, you need to show your face with dignity and take responsibility to try to change it into a positive dynamic. We need to stay together, try to be positive and start to win games.”

ONE TO WATCH

Nathan Redmond:
The winger is back from injury and looking sharp. Only a crucial block denied him an equaliser against Bournemouth, before he arrived off the bench to wrap up the win at Portsmouth in midweek.

Having only played for 20 minutes on Tuesday night, Redmond should be fit and firing, and is a pivotal player in Saints’ counter-attacking game away from home against the top teams.

Harry Kane: No surprises here, but Kane is quietly going about his business despite Spurs’ recent slump.

The England captain has nine goals in nine games for club and country this season, and has scored in each of his last five appearances against Saints.

DID YOU KNOW?

- Southampton are looking to win consecutive Premier League matches against Tottenham for the first time since winning three in a row between January 2003 and March 2004.

- Tottenham versus Southampton will become only the second Premier League fixture to be played in five different stadiums (Wembley, White Hart Lane, Tottenham Stadium, St Mary's, The Dell), after Tottenham versus West Ham (Wembley, White Hart Lane, Tottenham Stadium, Boleyn Ground, London Stadium).

- Tottenham have lost 10 of their 24 Premier League games so far in 2019, their most in a single calendar year in the competition since 2014 (12/38). Of ever-present sides over the two seasons, only Brighton (13), Watford (12) and Bournemouth (11) have lost more Premier League games this year than Spurs.

- Southampton are looking to win three consecutive away top-flight games for the first time since February 2015 (a run of four), while the last time they did so without conceding was in April 1992.

- Since the start of last season, Tottenham’s Harry Kane has ended on the losing side in five Premier League matches in which he’s scored – more than any other player.
