Cédric has revealed he cannot wait to embrace the pressure of Southampton’s upcoming games.
After securing a third successive away win, 1-0 at Sheffield United, Saints now return home to face Bournemouth under the Friday night lights at St Mary’s, before attentions turn to the south coast derby at Portsmouth.
Both matches are live on Sky Sports and will attract plenty of interest beyond the local area, but Cédric is determined to perform when it matters most.
“Football players love pressure,” he said. “The Premier League is made of pressure and we love it.
“It’s much better to play a game like this, a derby game, and we want to give the win to our fans.
“Let’s work on them, let’s prepare for all the games in the best way we can, to achieve another win for them.
“They’ve been great, our fans here again, and we will be fighting for them.”
The Portuguese defender is back at the club after spending the second half of last season on loan at Inter Milan, and has now started Saints’ last three games.
“I have been working hard, trying to get my opportunity, and all the team has supported me,” he added.
“All the players have been great with me and helped me to play and feel welcome here. I am very happy to be back and to help the team achieve another three points.”
