Alfie Jones struck the second of Gillingham’s two-goal haul away at Tranmere Rovers in League One action on Saturday afternoon.

The tie ended two apiece, after Alex Jakubiak and Jones’s goals were cancelled out by second-half strikes from Connor Jennings and Paul Mullin.

Jones’s effort, earning The Gills a valuable point on the road, was the second of his professional career, having also found the net for St Mirren in a previous loan stint.

Fellow Saints colleague, and former Under-23s captain, Tom O’Connor played 90 minutes of the tie at full-back, after joining Jones on loan at the Kent-based club in late August.

Elsewhere in the EFL, Jack Rose was an unused substitute as Walsall halted Colchester United’s winning run after a 0-0 draw in Essex. The Saddlers defended particularly well to pick up a prised away point.

In non-league action, Harry Hamblin played 90 minutes of Bath City’s 1-1 draw with Billericay Town, while Tyreke Johnson helped high-flying Woking preserve their spot at the top of the Conference Premier with a share of the points away at Hartlepool.

Marcus Barnes was a 63 minute replacement for Charlie Seaman In Eastleigh's National League meeting with Ebbesfleet, which ended 1-1.
