Ten-man Saints battle to United draw

Saints rounded off a positive final week before the international break with a 1-1 draw against Manchester United at St Mary’s.

Jannik Vestergaard scored his first goal for the club to grab a second-half equaliser, while Saints played the final 20 minutes of the game a man down after Kevin Danso’s dismissal.

The result followed successive away wins at Brighton in the Premier League and Fulham in the Carabao Cup.

Saints in Trophy action

Radhi Jaïdi’s youngsters face League Two Forest Green Rovers at The New Lawn in their Trophy opener tomorrow night.

It is the first of three group games for Saints, who will also travel to Walsall and Coventry in the competition.

The Under-23s will be looking to bounce back following three successive defeats in Premier League 2 Division One.

Under-18s hit late winner at Arsenal

Saints left it late to secure a deserved first victory of the season in the Under-18 Premier League, with a 1-0 triumph at Arsenal.

Substitute Callum Watts struck the winner in the 90th minute at the Shenley Training Centre.

It was just reward for Paul Hardyman’s side, who had the best of the chances on the day.
