Ralph Hasenhüttl says his Southampton team will be brave when they take on Manchester United at St Mary's.

Saints host the Red Devils on Saturday lunchtime as they go in search of a third successive victory, following the wins over Brighton and Fulham in the past week.

In Hasenhüttl's only game against United so far – at Old Trafford, in March – Saints ran Ole Gunnar Solskjær's side extremely close, only to suffer an unfortunate 3-2 loss in the closing moments.

But the Saints boss believes there are positive lessons they can take from that encounter into the latest meeting between the teams.

"I think we had a good balance of playing with the ball, but also being compact and well organised," said Hasenhüttl.

"A free-kick would also help from Prowsey, if he takes another one like he did in Old Trafford! Finally, I think we can score when we have a lot of pressure on them.

"We had a few good early ball wins also in Old Trafford. We will not be shy. We must be brave and try to play our philosophy and our football."

Speaking about Saints' opponents, Hasenhüttl added: "They're a fantastic team with a lot of quality. Especially the beginning against Chelsea was massive, 4-0 – a big win. The results then were not always perfect, but in every game they showed how good they can be."
