Nathan Redmond believes that Southampton fans should be excited by the attacking options at their disposal this season, following the 2-0 victory over Brighton.
Redmond netted his first of the season at the Amex Stadium thanks to a Sofiane Boufal assist, after Moussa Djenepo’s sublime curling effort had saw him register a first for the club.
And the forward was delighted to see the Mali international winger get off the mark in the top-flight.
“I think everyone can see around the training ground how much of a fun and bubbly character he is,” Redmond said.
“He’s still only young, but with glimpses of ability like that I think the fans should be excited for some of the forward play we’ve got going for us this year.
“A fantastic finish from him, great quality and I think it should be exciting to see more of him.”
Boufal’s impact on the bench was almost equally as impressive, with his direct running causing the hosts problems, before he took on Martin Montoya to tee up Redmond’s winner.
“It’s a lot of fun [playing with Sofiane]. We try and play with each other in training and we barely try to pass to anyone else if we’re on the same team!
“He’s fantastic to have and slowly and steadily he’s getting that work ethic for the team, which will give him more opportunities to come and play. I think he understands that and it’s good to have him back.”
