Kevin Danso is relishing his first crack at the Premier League, and hopes to bring extra physicality to Southampton’s defence.
The Austrian centre-back, who arrived from German club Augbsurg just in time ahead of the closure of the summer transfer window, is only 20 years of age but stands at an imposing 6ft 3in tall and boasts impressive athleticism.
Danso, who actually grew up in England and was once on the books of MK Dons, declared the move a dream come true after sealing a season-long loan switch.
“It’s a boyhood dream of mine to play in the Premier League and it’s finally coming true, so I’m looking forward to it, especially for such a great club,” he said. “I’m looking forward to getting to know the lads and the fans.
“There are great facilities here, everything seems wonderful about the place and I’m ready to get started now.
“I think everybody knows the Premier League is the toughest league in the world.
“It’s very physically demanding, but hopefully that won’t be too much of a problem for me. I’m ready to get started and looking forward to the new challenges it has to bring.
“I’m physically quite imposing, and I’m looking to bring that into the league against some of the top strikers and top opposition.
“I’m just looking to do as well as possible, to finish as high up in the table as possible and help the team as much as I can.
“It’s a loan, but I’m ready to give one hundred per cent and I’m ready to play for the badge.”

As a compatriot of Saints manager Ralph Hasenhüttl, Danso revealed his new boss played a major part in his decision to sign.
“He was very influential,” he explained. “I know him and the work he’s done in the Bundesliga.
“He’s also Austrian, I’m Austrian, so he was pivotal for me as part of my decision to come here. I’m ready to get to know him, get to know his tactics and kick on.”
