Ralph Hasenhüttl feels Southampton are on track ahead of the Premier League opener with Burnley, after their latest pre-season test against Feyenoord.
After trips to Macau and Dublin concurrently, Saints beat the Dutch Eredivisie side 3-1, thanks to goals from Che Adams, Maya Yoshida and Sofiane Boufal.
But as Saints return to Staplewood ahead of their final pre-season friendly against 1.FC Köln at St Mary’s, Hasenhüttl was equally pleased to see areas that where his side can improve.
“I think we are on a good level in the pre-season but still with things to work on,” he said.
“I’m pleased. I think we had the first test against Feyenoord where we really had some problems, which is good to see because we can work on this and can have the videos to show why this happens and why we have to do better.
“In the Premier League if you are not committed every time then it is very dangerous so I liked this test very much, it was perfect.
“First we have two days without training which is good for the guys as the last week was very intense and the last weeks.
“Then you must be fresh at the weekend for the last test at home against 1.FC Köln. Then we have one more week and hopefully we start in a good shape.”
