Get up to speed on all things Southampton, as the countdown to the 2019/20 Premier League season continues…

Four from four at Feyenoord

Southampton’s pre-season hot streak extended to four wins from four games played on Sunday afternoon, with a 3-1 victory over top-flight Dutch side Feyenoord.

Che Adam’s opener laid the foundations for a deserved victory at De Kuip, before Maya Yoshida and Sofiane Boufal added strikes of their own – equalling the three-goal tally Saints registered against the Eredivisie outfit back in 2015.

There was a slice of luck about both of Saints’ first two goals, but nevertheless, Ralph Hasenhüttl will be pleased with another bright performance, not to mention another positive result; adding to friendly wins over Brentford, Preston North End and Guangzhou R&F - as well as a hard-fought draw with SCR Altach.

Only FC Köln remain during Saints’ pre-season fixture schedule, which takes place at St Mary’s in six days’ time, before the 2019/20 Premier League season officially commences against Burnley on August 10th.

FC Köln at St Mary’s

Just one pre-season test now stands between Southampton and that new season curtain raiser in the north-west with FC Köln set to provide it, at St Mary’s on Saturday afternoon.

The fixture will mark the final opportunity for fans, and of course Ralph Hasenhüttl, to get a closer look at the Saints squad as they take on the newly promoted Bundesliga side.

More commonly known as 1.FC Cologne, Saints are yet to meet the German side competitively, but manager Ralph Hasenhüttl spent two years of his playing career representing Die Geißböcke between 1998-2000, scoring three times.

Tickets are on general sale for the match and can be purchased from this link.

Welcome, Moussa Djenepo!

Moussa Djenepo kicked off his Saints career in earnest over the weekend, taking in his first training session at Staplewood before taking in a tour of St Mary’s.

Granted an extended rest after his efforts with Mali in the African Cup of Nations, the club’s first signing of the summer window hit the training ground for a fitness test on Friday before joining up with his team-mate’s in Rotterdam for Sunday’s 3-1 friendly win over Feyenoord.

The Malian winger’s arrival ensures that Ralph Hasenhüttl now has a full first-team squad as his disposal for the first time this summer with the Premier League opener against Burnley at Turf Moor now just two weeks away.

PL2 fixture release

Radhi Jaïdi’s U23s will learn their opponents for the new PL2 Division 1 season on Monday afternoon.

Jaïdi’s side enjoyed a superb league campaign last time out, narrowly missing out on automatic promotion, only to comprehensively defeat Newcastle in the play-off final at St Mary’s.

Man United on sale today

Looking further ahead, tickets for Saints’ home meeting with Manchester United on Saturday 31 August are now on sale to Official Members who have purchased a match ticket (EPL, Europa League, Cup, Friendly) since the beginning of the 2013/14 season.

Due to the nature of this match, there are sales restrictions meaning the match will not go to General Sale once all exclusive member-access periods have finished. Any remaining tickets will be on sale to all supporters with any purchase history on Thursday 8th August.
