Vienna 2019

Saints Foundation and Southampton FC were, once again, well represented in Austria at SK Rapid Vienna’s International SNT Disability Cup.

Across two sides, 14 players represented Saints in the Euro Cup and Champions Cup in what was a great test for the teams.

On the opening day, both sides picked up victories with the Adult Elite Disability side beating Torino 5-2 in the Champions Cup. Our Euro Cup players, made up of those who attend the Pan Disability League, sponsored by Irwin Mitchell, defeating the home side of SK Rapid Wien Team Grün.

With both sides able to take momentum into the second and final day, there was plenty still to play for with final positions up for grabs.

The Euro Cup squad were able to dispatch FC Flyeralarm Admira 7-3, whilst the Champions Cup team finished up fifth beating Club Brugge KV 5-1 in a play-off, meaning both sides finished their respective campaigns on a high.

Speaking about the tournament, Senior Project Officer, Robert Pearce, said: “Both teams acquitted themselves well on the pitch in Austria and we are proud of how they played.

“They have done a great job representing both Saints Foundation and Southampton FC in what was a great experience for them all.

“They have all come back hungry to keep progressing and play more football with Saints Foundation.”
