Southampton winger Josh Sims will hope to feature when England kick-off the opening game of this summer’s Toulon Tournament against Japan this afternoon.
The Academy graduate was named in Paul Simpson’s 21-man squad, as the young Lions bid to win the competition for the fourth year in a row.
It is a youth tournament but age ranges vary – England have selected an Under-20 squad, but Japan are one of eight non-European nations whose squad is picked from Under-22 players.
Sims and co kick-off at 2.05pm BST in Aubagne, south east France, hoping to get their campaign off to the perfect start.
Group A rivals Portugal and Chile are also in action on day one of the tournament, with only the table-toppers guaranteed a place in the semi-finals of the 12-team competition.
