World Record Attempt

By SFC Media time Wed 24 Apr Saints Foundation

Hot on the heels of a successful Foundation Matchday, we hosted a world record attempt at St Mary’s.

Spearheaded by our Health & Wellbeing team, we set about trying to beat the target of 731 for the largest seated exercise class set in Hong Kong two years ago.

Also in attendance was Saints Foundation ambassador Iwan Thomas, Head of Saints Foundation, Greg Baker as they took their seat ahead of the attempt.

The attempt, which had to last 30 minutes, was a sample of the work we do weekly in our community. Our Generation Gains works with adults over the age of 65, using seated exercises to keep these people healthy, independent and confident.

Despite the great efforts of our staff, we fell just short of the target required to beat the record, however hundreds of people got their recommended daily amount of exercise along with finding out more about our work in and around Southampton.

Claudia Gray, who was one of the driving forces for the attempt said: “The event was great show of unity with the community coming together, all ages and ability.

“Despite not quite reaching the magic number, fun was had by all, enjoying the music and the spring sunshine.  A massive thank you to everyone at the stadium who made it possible.”

We hope to attempt the record again soon with the best way of finding out about updates on our social media channels.
