Reflecting on the achievement, Spacey-Cale said: "The nine months we've been together, this squad have really grown and developed, and today was a culmination of all that work that we've put in.

"We ask a lot of them, and they've put a performance on today that is worthy of winning the league. I'm extremely proud of the players, extremely proud of the staff and excited for the future.

"The players on the pitch and off the pitch have worked so hard to get us where we are now and I'm just so excited for what this group can now go on and achieve.

"But a massive thank you to the supporters, because they have really driven us on and grown with us in every game, and a big thank you to the club for supporting and giving us this opportunity to grow as a group and really be part of a club that is very much about people, and these are the people who have gone out and won today.

"I was pleased. It was a hot day and our third game in a week, and I think they managed it superbly. When we needed to up the tempo, we upped the tempo. I'm always a little bit of a perfectionist and I thought we could have been a little bit more clinical in front of goal, but eight goals says it all and some really top-notch performances."

One of those came from Chloe Newton, who scored twice to bring up her 29th and 30th goals of the campaign.

Spacey-Cale said: "Amazing. She's a goalscorer. She's got the number nine on the back of her shirt because she does score goals.

"Her movement has got better and her creating of chances for others has certainly got better over the season and it's always nice to see a number nine finishing and scoring goals, because a lot of the time they define themselves by their goals, but what was really good today was her hold-up play as well.

"All round, the whole squad have really nailed it this season, so I'm really proud of them."
